Comfortable and Proper Sanitary and Hygienic Living Conditions for clients of the Rivne Regional Center for Social Services have been created thanks to the mini-grant competition implemented within the framework of the project “Integrated Humanitarian Response in Times of War and Postwar Recovery.”
The winning application was submitted to the Rivne Regional Charitable Foundation “Our Future” by the NGO “All-Ukrainian Association of Internally Displaced Persons.”
According to the initiative group, the Rivne Regional Center for Social Services provides assistance to people in difficult life circumstances — including homeless individuals and those who have served sentences of imprisonment or restriction of liberty, many of whom have lost their identification documents.
Between 2017 and 2022, the center served an average of 683 people annually. From the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion until the end of 2022, the institution additionally provided services to 72 internally displaced persons belonging to these vulnerable categories.
“Among our clients are people in difficult life circumstances; internally displaced persons; homeless individuals; people who have served prison sentences; representatives of groups vulnerable to HIV; and people with disabilities,”
— shared the initiative group.
Due to the specific nature of its work, the residential premises and common corridor of the Center require frequent cosmetic repairs.
Therefore, within the framework of the “Integrated Humanitarian Response in Times of War and Postwar Recovery” project, current repair works were carried out: ceilings and walls were painted, parts of the walls were tiled with ceramic tiles, surfaces were restored, cracks and scratches were sealed, new electrical wiring was installed along with sockets and switches, and other improvements were made.
In Ukraine, the project “Integrated Humanitarian Response in Times of War and Postwar Recovery” is implemented by the International Charitable Foundation “Alliance for Public Health” with financial support from the Disasters Emergency Committee (UK) and technical support from Christian Aid.
The aim of the project is to support communities by addressing urgent humanitarian, social, and medical needs, ensuring dignified living conditions in times of crisis.
